Frontier Days Fundraiser - Sunday, May 4 2008
We have teamed up with the local Texas Roadhouse restaurant to work a booth at Frontier Days in downtown Milford. We will be selling Steak Kabob's, Pulled Pork Sandwiches and Peanuts during the event. Texas Roadhouse will do all the cooking and have everything we need . . . we just need to provide the help. They have been very generous with the troop and much of the proceeds will go directly to our troop.

We need 3-4 Scouts to work each shift at festival to take orders and serve. Scouts should be in uniform or in their Class B shirt. Sign-up sheets will be posted at the May meetings for Scouts to signup. See the calendar for more details

Class B Logo Design Contest - Saturday, January 26 2008
In mid-December we announced a contest to design the next generation logo for Troop 128 Class B uniforms and other gear we plan to offer.

Scouts and Parents . . . put your creativeness to use and design our next logo for our Class B shirts as well as other gear we intend to offer such as caps, polo shirts and sweatshirts.

-Can be any number of colors.
-Can be any size, but should be in a dimension ratio to fit on a shirt.
-You can submit a shirt front only logo or a shirt front and shirt back logo combination.
-Can be electronic or hand drawn.
-Does not have to be "perfect", we can make it artwork appropriate.
-Be careful not to utilize copyrighted materials.
-Must be from a current Troop 128 Scout or Parent.
-Submissions should be given to Chris Leonard or emailed to the Webmaster.
-Must be submitted by February 18th.

Citizenship in the Community Merit Badge - Wednesday, December 19 2007
For those Scouts who are working on the Citizenship in the Community Merit Badge, Mr. Weldon has put together a list of charitable organizations and it is now posted on the website. Go to the Links section using the main menu.

New Website Section - Sunday, December 2 2007
You asked . . . and we listened. We have added a Classified Ads section to our website! A link can be found under "Resources" on the main menu.

This section can be used by older Scouts to sell/offer their "experienced" equipment to younger Scouts who may need it. Especially when Scouts are younger, they tend to outgrow items before they've worn them out. Although we hold yearly meetings doing the same thing, this gives Scouts an opportunity to do it year-round.

You can browse existing ads or place one of your own.

Due to privacy issues, this area is password protected from the general public with our Members Only Password. Contact the webmaster with your name and/or Scout's name if you don't know that username and password.

Annual Registration Fees - Sunday, November 18 2007
It is once again that time of year to register your Boy Scout for the coming year. Please download and fill out the registration form from the Forms Area of our website. We require one form for each of your Scouts, attach the appropriate payment ($75 for the first Scout in the family and $50 for each additional Scout) and return it to the Committee Chairman (Tim Scheid) by December 3rd.

Also in the registration packet are Class 1 and Class 2 medical forms. The class 1 part of the form is required from each Scout. The Class 2 portion must be filled out if your Scout wants to participate in activities outside the Dan Beard Council or attend summer camp and requires a physician's examination.

Some of you have already paid for the coming year, but please fill out the registration form and return it to me. I will also be handing out copies of the forms at the upcoming Scout meetings.

Recycling Project - Tuesday, November 6 2007

Merit Badge Challenge - Thursday, September 27 2007
The Dan Beard Council's Merit Badge Challenge is an excellent opportunity for Scouts to earn up to 3 merit badges by attending sessions during 3 Saturday's during February and March.

I would encourage each Scout to take advantage of this opportunity and signup quickly before the sessions or specific merit badges fill up.

See our calendar entry for more information: http://www.calendar.troop128.net/view_event.php?id=83&eDate=1201928400

Print off your registration form and have Mr. McCrate sign off quickly so you can secure your classes.

Philmont Opportunity - Thursday, September 13 2007
I received a call from Charlie McKay. His troop has two empty spots for Philmont the second week of June this summer. For you seniors who have not been to Philmont this will be your last chance and I strongly urge you to take it. Philmont is truly an awesome experience. They are flying so the cost will be around $1500. Call or email me if interested. Mitch

Troop Meeting 5/14 - Monday, May 7 2007
Our next troop meeting on 5/14 will be a service project for the church. We will be planting flowers and spreading mulch around the church grounds. We wil start at 6:30 pm to ensure it is all completed. We will need Scouts to bring rakes, shovels, trowels, pitch forks and a wheel barrow if you can. Gloves and clothes made to get dirty are a really good idea.

Remember . . . An hour early next week only.

Craig Starkey Campership - Saturday, March 17 2007
We have now put the criteria and nomination form for the Craig Starkey Campership Award on the web site. Look under our Resources area of the site.

For those of you who are new to the Troop, Craig was a Scout with our troop who truly applied the Scout Law and Scout Oath each an every day. He died suddenly in a tragic automobile accident several years ago and we truly miss his influence and example. This is why we end each meeting with the circle, Lord's Prayer and "We Love Your Craig".
