Amazing Race Starts Now!!! - Tuesday, November 8 2011
I am so excited about the events and challenges we have planned for this race I can’t wait so LET’S GET STARTED now! Next Monday, November 14th, we are going to start the race. We will be accepting team registrations at this meeting. As your first challenge, we will be accepting non-perishable food items at this meeting – THAT’s right you can start shaving minutes off your race time and bring yourself one step closer to victory. At every meeting leading up until race day you can bring in your donations and we will tally the points against your name so your amazing race team can get a head start on getting your name immortalized on that amazing trophy.

Food collected is distributed through Milford Miami Ministries through the sponsorship of Milford First United Methodist. With the current economic environment, more and more of our Milford and Miami Township neighbors need your help. Items we are in particular need of at this time are: Cereal, macaroni & cheese, Peanut butter, boxed potatoes, pastas, rice, stuffing, jelly, brownie mix, canned fruit, dish or laundry detergent, soup, and canned veggies.

Be on the lookout for other upcoming challenges and opportunities to serve your community in the coming weeks. If you can’t make it on race weekend, I am sure MMM would appreciate your donations anyway.

Summer Camp - Saturday, October 1 2011
Earlier this year we went to Summer Camp. We had a lot of fun, thanks to all the leaders and Mr. Balzer the Campmaster. We did many things and earned merit badges, and to anyone who didn't go this year then try to go next year. See you there!

Pere-Marquette Canoe Trip - Saturday, June 25 2011
On Saturday June 18th, 2011 to Tuesday June, 21st, many of us were canoeing on the Pere-Marquette River Canoe trip. On that trip we canoed about 40 miles. We had a lot of fun and we would like to thank Mr. Sullick for organizing it and Mr. Jofriet for planning the meals, along with all the other leaders who helped and the parents who drove and came. Most of us would agree, it was a pretty hard river because of all the turns and all of the fallen trees, plus a little rain, many people flipping(I didn't). We counted the turns in the last eight miles and there was about 89 big turns in the river (I don't know how many more small turns and turns for fallen trees there were!)

During the three day trip some of us were lucky enough to spot a bald eagle, beaver, misquotes and some of us (me) found chiggers(red bugs. We also we given the oportunity to learn how to fly fish. Even though it rained some we had a lot of fun.

 

Practice Hike this Tuesday - Monday, June 13 2011
There is a practice hike with Mr. McCrate Tuesday June 14th, 2011. It is at Rowe Woods, and we will meet at 6:30 in the parking lot. This is mainly for finding out about whether your equipment is the right size or not. Bring your pack, and your boots, and load your pack with about 40-50 pounds of stuff.

 

Summer Camp Meeting - Friday, June 10 2011
Monday, June 13th, 2011, we will be having a summer camp meeting right after the Canoe Trip meeting. Mr. Balzer will need all payments and paperwork by that meeting. We will also discuss summer camp, find the patrol flags, come up with a gateway design, and patrol camp gadgets.

 

Gravel Spreading Saturday - Sunday, June 5 2011
Saturday June 4th, 2011 we spread gravel for Mr. Wiederhold. He lets us store our trailer on his property and we showed our appreciation for it by spreading the gravel. We had about 15 scouts who helped along with some adults. Thanks to everyone who came with rakes, shovels and wheelbarrows in hand. Fortunately someone thought to bring a front loader (Bobcat) that really sped up the process a lot! We spread a total of 24 tons of gravel in about two hours. Again, thanks to Mr. Wiederhold and all who helped out!

 

Merit Badge Challenge 2011 - Monday, October 25 2010
Merit Badge Challenge is a great way to earn up to 3 merit badges during Saturday sessions in February. Be sure to register prior to November 20th . . . the earlier the better.

In order to help YOU earn money for Troop 128 and your troop activities we’ve made some major changes to the annual Boy Scout Popcorn Sale this year. The product has changed from the traditional tins to more environmentally friendly bags that include MORE popcorn than last year.

Special Early Bird Sale!
You can start selling Boy Scout Popcorn right now and beat the rush of competing with store sales and other school or sports activities. Plus your customers can receive their popcorn earlier.

This special early bird sale goes on now through September 7th. To get your forms and to place your orders email our Popcorn Kernel, Chris Leonard (webmaster@troop128.net). Forms are also available for downloading at www.troop128.net. Early bird orders placed with Chris by September 7th will be delivered to you during the troop meeting on September 27th, almost 2 months ahead of other orders! If you want to order popcorn during this early bird sale to deliver immediately to your customers as you sell it throughout September and October, you certainly can, however returns are not allowed so only order what you know you will sell.

Our meeting on 12/21 will be the gift exchange. Each Scout should bring a wrapped gift (value not to exceed $10) to share with others.

 

2009-2010 Registration Fees - Tuesday, October 27 2009
Our charter with the Dan Beard Council and the Boy Scouts of America is due again in December for the next 12 months. During this process we register all Scouts, pay insurance and other fees associated with each Scout and Adult Leader.

During this time we collect our annual registration fee from all Scouts. Fees will remain the same as last year and will be $75 for the first Scout and $50 for additional Scouts from the same family.

May Meeting Plans - Sunday, May 3 2009
• 5/4/2009- We are packing up the trailer for the mother's day campout and holding scoutmaster conferences.
• 5/11/2009- At 6:00 we are planting flowers and spreading mulch in front of the church, bring tools, and class A's for the photo shoot in the meeting room.
• 5/18/2009- We are holding the mock trial for the law merit badge, it will probably be held in the sanctuary.
