Troop 128 Recycling Fundraising...

recycleIt is official!  Troop 128 now has an account at M&R Recycling, on Rt. 28 just east of Branch Hill Guinea Pike across from Frisch’s.  This is an easy way to have a constant flow of income all year long.  How many of you are having Graduation Parties, Memorial Day get togethers and just weekly consume beverages in aluminum cans?  Just set up a separate place for your guests to put their empty cans and we could be cashing in on their fun!

They will recycle aluminum siding, copper wire, brass, car batteries and more.  Visit their web site at http://www.mandrrecycling.com  for a complete list of the many things that can earn Troop 128 some money and keep the environment clean at the same time.  We will be getting large receptacles (donated by Buckhorn).  We will keep at the church so you could bring your aluminum cans there instead of dropping them off yourselves.  The second one could be brought to any large gathering like a play or concert or maybe a soccer field!

You can even call you flower customers to remind them of the delivery and let them know you will be collecting cans that day as well.  If you know of a family addicted to soda, ask them to save the cans for you.  Tell them to call you when they need to be picked up and follow through.

Protocol:

  1. Turn into M&R and drive into the building on the right hand side, pulling through to the other side.
  2. An employee will greet you and help you empty your recyclables onto the scale.
  3. Tell the employee it is for Troop 128’s account.  He will give you a small piece of paper with a number on it.
  4. Take the paper to the window and confirm that it is for BSA Troop 128.  She will have you sign a receipt and she will keep the receipt for me to pick up probably monthly, depending on participation.

This should be fairly easy for all to participate in and we hope this is just the beginning of new fundraising opportunities which allow our boys to experience Scouting to the fullest.  Thank you for your cooperation.

Update: In an effort to make this easier on all Scout families, A.J.. has agreed to be the Recycling Czar for the Troop. Every other meeting bring your cans to the Scout Room and he'll take them in to have them recycled and credit the Troop account. See the calendar for those meetings.
